Like many modern romances, our story began…on the internet.
Lisa was living in downtown Chicago and Josh was living in Lafayette, IN when they met on The League dating app.

After phone calls and FaceTimes, Josh drove up to Chicago to take Lisa out on a first date on October 5, 2019. They met at the Museum of Science and Industry, walked the Chicago River Walk and went to one of Lisa’s favorite pizza places: Parlor Pizza Bar. The day had all the makings of a great first date: laughter, flirtation, a spontaneous piggy back ride, almost dumping over a bench they were sitting on and pizza!
As they got to know each other, they bonded over their faith, love of photography, traveling, and cooking.
Navigating long distance dating and a pandemic was not something either of them ever expected, but it brought them closer together and for that they are grateful.

The Proposal: Josh and Lisa went to visit his parents on a Friday night and planned to go to downtown Carmel to see the winter farmers’ market and meet his brother and sister-in-law for lunch the next day. (Or so she thought!) Friday evening Josh said he was tired strangely early but Lisa didn’t think much of it and helped his mom ready the guest room for her to sleep in. Meanwhile, Josh and his dad drove an hour back to Lafayette because Josh forgot his nice jeans! Lisa was totally oblivious he had even left.
The next morning as they drove into Carmel, Lisa asked why they drove past the “farmers’ market this way” sign but Josh explained it away, totally convincing Lisa nothing out of the ordinary was going on. Walking through the downtown square, they talked and joked and Josh tried to get Lisa to stop walking but she had no clue what was going on until he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She of course said “Yes!” and could not stop smiling. Josh had hired their friend and wedding photographer Victoria Rayburn to capture the moment and afterwards they went to a fancy brunch at the Hotel Carmichael. It was the best day ever!

Wedding: Our wedding will take place in Pleasant Valley, IA near where Lisa grew up.
We are so excited and cannot wait to celebrate with the people we love!
